F-16 Badminton Club was formally established on June 16, 2023, founded by former Westlu coaches who had successfully overseen various multi-skill junior programs from 2003 to 2023. These individuals departed Westlu to actualize their mission, vision, and values through the F-16 Badminton Club. It is important to note that F-16 Badminton Club does not offer any adult-exclusive programs; each program conducted under the F-16 Badminton Club is primarily tailored with components beneficial to young participants.

Esmond's initial engagement with badminton was recreational during his youth. Approximately eight years ago, his interest in the sport was rekindled after observing his son's development in badminton skills through classes. It was during this time that he encountered our president, Henry Wong, who extended an offer for him to assume a coaching position. Esmond accepted this role, discovering what has now become his profound passion: to assist young individuals, similar to his son, in not only excelling at badminton but also in cultivating an enjoyment for the sport and enhancing their overall abilities. Notably, he obtained his Shuttle Time coaching certification in June of 2023. While he continues to participate in recreational play with fellow coaches and friends, he also engages in competitive training at the Vancouver Racquets Club. His coaching tenure at Westlu spanned two years, from 2021 to 2023, where he served as a volunteer coach instructing the beginner class. At F-16, he expresses a desire to witness the improvement of young players, akin to those in his previous class, and aspires to see them evolve into future athletes.
Henry Wong served as President of the Board for Badminton BC from 2017 to 2022 and for Westlu Badminton from 2008 to 2018. He is an active participant in badminton, holding certifications as an NCCP coach and a Badminton BC accredited umpire. Academically, Henry is a professional engineer with expertise in the aerospace field and a sessional lecturer at the University of British Columbia. His diverse interests also include conducting choirs, performing as a violinist/violist in a string quartet, providing freelance background vocals, and working as a music composer, editor, and producer.
